Rebecca Derr
Rebecca L. “Becky” Derr, 64, Carey, died at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at her residence.
She was born May 11, 1953, in Upper Sandusky, to Vincent N. and Mary Lou (Stainbrook) Derr. Her mother survives in Carey. She married Joe W. Shaw and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children: Joshua J. Shaw of Upper Sandusky and Jayme L. (Michael) Reighard of Rock Creek; five grandchildren, Wesley, Michael, Joseph, Kurtis and Thomas; six siblings, John (Amy) Derr of Carey, Jeanne (David) Beck of Wharton, Ken (Cora) Derr of Wharton, Larry (Karen) Derr, Dennis (Lori) Derr and Tony (Kim) Derr, all of Carey; her companion the past three years, Billy Collins of Carey, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her father and a sister, Lou Ann Derr.
Becky was a 1971 graduate of Riverdale High School. She retired from Continental Structural Plastics in Carey on Sept. 24, 2015, after 44 years of dedicated service.
She was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation and local UAW, both in Carey.
Becky was a friendly, warm person, but you always knew where you stood with her. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Family and friends were scheduled to be received from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept.12, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, with the Rev. Paul Faroh, OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Carey.
