Ira Wilson Jr.

Ira R. “Willie” Wilson Jr., 71, formerly of Galion and more recently of Marblehead, died at St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima, on Tuesday Dec. 26, 2017, at 10:34 p.m. He was born on Oct. 2, 1946, in Richlands, Va., to the late Ira R. Wilson Sr. and Louise (Brown) Simmons of Arkansas.
He married Patricia “Pat” Miles on Feb. 14, 1985 and she survives in Marblehead.  Mr. Wilson is survived by three daughters, Rachelle (Kevin) Hartman, Arlington; Amy Tallman, Lexington; and Heather (Bobby) Jones, Mansfield; four grandchildren, Harrison Hartman, Madeline Hartman, Trevor Tallman and Wilson Tallman; three brothers, Jack Wilson, his significant other Edie, Eddie (Karen) Wilson and Mike Wilson; two sisters, Mary Zerby and Joyce Stevenson.  He was preceded in death by two nieces, Brenda Coykendall and Jerene Faulkner, father-in-law Charles Lamb and mother-in-law Doris Lamb.
Willie graduated from Mt. Gilead High School class of 1965. He worked for Columbia Gas and retired after 30 years. After retirement he continued his career with United Technical for 10 years. Willie was a member of First United Church of Christ, Elks Lodge BPOE #1191 and Moose Lodge #303 all of Galion. For hobbies he enjoyed boating, camping, tractor pulls, farming, stain glass and being with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a jack of all trades, patient, kind and how he taught his family to love.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, Dec. 30, from 1-4 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at Bringman Clark Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. A funeral service will be held Sunday, Dec. 31, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at Bishop Cemetery, Eagle Township, Arlington with full military graveside rites being conducted by Hancock County Veterans Squad.
