Betty Russell
Betty J. Russell, 77, of Carey, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Carey, surrounded by her family.
Born Feb. 21, 1941, in Porterdale, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Mary (Wilson) Sockwell. She married Dorsel Russell on April 15, 1977, and he survives in Carey.
Surviving are her daughter, Roberta “Robin” (Steven Sr.) Yonts of Carey; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Genette (Larry) Wilcox of Montgomery, Ala.; and a brother-in-law, Jerry McNutt of Walbridge.
Preceding her in death were two sons, Tony L. Hoop and Lonnie F. Russell; three grandsons, Tommy and James Yonts and Brady Hoop; and two sisters, Barbara McNutt and Maryann Sharp.
Betty worked at RCA in Findlay and Capital Plastics in Bowling Green. She, along with her husband, cleaned for Suber’s Laundromat in Carey for 20 years.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 11, from 2-6 p.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 12, at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Nunley officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bloomville.
