Florence Wyatt

Florence V. Wyatt, 98, Upper Sandusky, formerly of Carey, died at 7:38 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Westbrook Assisted Living, Upper Sandusky.
She was born July 14, 1919, in Adrain to Wallace and Lucile (Haines) Ruehle. Florence married Gordon Wyatt in Christ Lutheran Church, Carey.
She is survived by her children, John (Rebecca) Ogden, Delaware; Gwendolyn Wyatt, Carey; and Daniel (Virginia) Groff, Mansfield; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a great-granddaughter, two sisters, Bernice Williams and Doris Beis; and a brother, Dean Ruehle.
Mrs. Wyatt was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for her entire life. She served as Sunday school superintendent, teacher and pianist, Mary Martha class. She was a collator of the Christ messenger newsletter, a life member of the Wyandot County, state and national retired teachers association, former PRS club and treasurer, life member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, charter member of Pi Omego Pi, an honorary business sorority and a 50 year member of Williams Myers 196 Order of the Eastern Star of McCutchenville. She was a retired homemaker and school teacher having taught at McComb High School, Fostoria City High School and Carey School for a total of 31 years.
She was a 1937 graduate of Carey High School and graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor of science degree in education in 1941. She also did graduate work in Bowling Green.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 5, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carey, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Order of the Eastern Star will hold service at 1 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the church with the Rev. William Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carey, or Dorcas Carey Public Library, Carey.
