Helen Stover

Helen S. Stover, 90, of Carey, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018, at her residence.
Born Aug. 7, 1927, in Carey, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Jarvis) Fox. She married Nelson E. Stover on June 17, 1949, in Newport, Ky.
She is survived by two sons, Eric and Nelson E. (Jackie) Stover both of Carey; seven daughters, Lisa (Dan) Putnam and Jody Stover both of Carey, Tina (Dan) Doepker and Helena (Steve) Moomaw both of Tiffin, Nina (Joel) Sigler of Lewis Center, Kim (Joe) Mack of Sycamore, and Sheila (Jim) Vent of Sunbury; 29 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, a sister, Mary Ellen Smith; a brother, William (Yvonne) Fox; a special cousin, Molly Fox; devoted caregiver, Donna Thompson; and her faithful companions, Jo Jo, Cinbo and Ching.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, twin sons, a daughter. Sandra Stone; brothers, Joseph “Jim” and Robert Fox; and sisters, Ruth Kitzler and Ann Reed.
Helen graduated from Carey High School. While working at the Dutch Mill restaurant in Carey, she met her husband. She later worked at Swan Rubber Company and also helped manage the family restaurant, “The Snack Bar”, in Carey. She had a green thumb and enjoyed her plants and flower beds. She had a love for wildlife, especially hummingbirds.There would be so many flying and landing around her porch. She was also known for collecting knick-knacks, particularly her large array of angel figurines. She loved her family and grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of life on Wednesday, May 9, from 5- 8 p.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. At Helen’s request, there will not be a service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Clinic/Wyandot County Humane Society or Seneca County Humane Society and sent to Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay Street, Carey, OH 43316.
