Kenneth Saum

Kenneth Melvin Saum, 74, of McCutchenville, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018, at St.Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
Born in Kansas, Ohio, on July 28, 1943, he was the son of the late Melvin and Alta (Hammer) Saum.
He is survived by a daughter, Stephanie (Mark) Friess; two grandchildren, Tyler and Chelsea Baker; a great-grandson, Nash, who he adored from afar; four sisters, Mary Ann Ley, Connie (Don) Bouillon, Anna Lou (Thomas) Goshe and Berneita Saum; a brother-in-law, Royal Smith; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Berneil Saum; a sister, Kathleen Smith; and a brother-in-law, Gene Ley.
Kenny graduated from Jackson Liberty High School in Amsden. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Before owning the meat market, Kenny was employed at GE. He was the proud owner of Saum’s Meat Market and Carry-Out in Carey. Saum’s was known for their “famous brats”.
He enjoyed watching sports, rooting for the Cleveland Indians, Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. He loved fishing, golfing, gardening and visiting Amish Country. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in New Riegel.
Private funeral arrangements are being handled by Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey.
