David Barchus
David Barchus, 69, of Carey, died Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
He was born Jan. 10, 1949, in Fostoria, son of the late Alma (Babb) and Harold (Hank) Barchus Jr.
Dave married Karen J. Turnbell on Jan. 20, 1968, in Weston, Mich. She preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 2009.
Surviving are their two children, David (Danielle) Barchus and Amy Sue Barchus, both of Carey; five grandchildren, Abi, Anthony and Amber Barchus; Brandon and Justin Stanley; a brother, Jon (Peggy) Barchus, Fostoria; three sisters, Karen Ann (Roger) Thimlar, Waterloo, Ind.; Sandra (Glenn) Kiser and Diana (Raul) Medrano, both of Vinton.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Randy.
Dave was a U.S. Army veteran. He served in Vietnam from 1969-1970 with the 4th infantry division.
He was a production supervisor for 40 years at Toledo Molding and Die before retiring in 2008.
Dave was a member of the Eagles #2198, American Legion #344 and the VFW #3759, all in Carey. He was an avid Cleveland Indians, Browns and OSU Buckeyes fan. He enjoyed, as did his wife, spoiling their grandchildren.
Visitation will be held July 23, from 3-8 p.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at the funeral home with Chaplain Steve Sturgeon officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey, with military graveside rites being conducted by the Carey Honor Guard.
