Joseph Ruffing

Joseph F. Ruffing, 91, of Carey, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born May 11, 1927, in Carey, he was the son of the late Solomon and Mary (Logdson) Ruffing. He married June F. Eingle on Nov. 15, 1947. She preceded him in death on July 5, 1997.
Surviving are three children, Robert F. Ruffing of Carey, Daniel L. Ruffing of Sycamore, and Barbara A. (Paul) Snyder of Carey; a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Ruffing of Findlay; four grandchildren, Misty (Robert) Kramer, John Ruffing, Mary (Jason) Courtney, and Shelby Snyder; eight great-grandchildren, Samantha and Colton Mullholand, Jason Jr., Jesse, Madison, Trinity, Gebriel and Kalel Courtney; and a sister, Rosely (Dave) O’Flaherty of Carey.
Preceding him in death were his son, Jim Ruffing, and a sister, Mary Tong.
He was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey.
Joe enjoyed attending county fairs throughout northwest Ohio. He liked watching tractor pulls, meandering through the horse barns and talking to people. Stranger was not in his vocabulary. He loved to tell stories of his 42 years of employment at National Lime and Stone in Carey and his days growing up and working on the family farm. He enjoyed going to church.
There will be no visitation. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey, with the Rev. Tom Merrill, OFM Conv., officiating.
