Paul Schmitz

Paul Schmitz, 88, of Cuyahoga Falls, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, in the early morning hours.
He was born in Seneca County on Jan. 12, 1930. He was the son of the late Norbert and Helen (Gosche) Schmitz.
Surviving Paul are his two children, John L. Schmitz, of Burton, and Daniel R. Schmitz (Shauna), of Broomfield, Colo.; the surviving mother, Dawn Schmitz; two grandchildren, Tikal and Maizie; a sister, Eugenia (Bud) Pieracini, Kalamazoo, Mich.; two brothers, Earl (Alma) Schmitz, Carey, and Jim (Janet) Schmitz, Risingsun.
Paul worked for himself in advertising and later as an owner and operator of a commercial building in Akron. He served our country in the Korean War as an Army aviator.
Paul loved flying, golf, attending meetings of the Quiet Birdmen (Akron chapter) and spending time with friends and family. He was always eager to start up a conversation and easily made friends with anyone who crossed his path.
Paul was close with and loved by many of his family members. His best friend was his brother Bob who passed in Dec. 2017. He will be missed by his siblings and their families and his sons, son’s wife and grandchildren.
Friends local to the Akron area are invited to an informal gathering Thursday, Nov. 8 at The Noisy Oyster, 1375 North Portage Path, Akron, OH, 44313.
Friends will be received on Friday, Nov. 9, from 5-7 p.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 West Findlay Street, Carey, OH 43316.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. at All Saints Parish-St. Nicholas Chapel, Frenchtown. Burial will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Frenchtown.
