Hazel Callari

Hazel E. Callari, age 94, of Upper Sandusky, died peacefully at Fairhaven Health Care Community in Upper Sandusky on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1924, to the late C. Glenn and Bernice (Schindler) Corfman. She married Charles R. Heiby who was killed in combat during WWII. She later married Joseph Callari and together they owned and managed an apartment building in Upper Sandusky and also owned and operated the JJ Callari Hay Company for many years. Joseph preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1991.
Hazel is survived by her brothers, Gene Corfman, Saline, Mich., and Allen (Elaine) Corfman, Ottawa; and several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Glenn Corfman.
She was the valedictorian of the 1943 class of Sycamore High School. She was an accomplished musician and played the piano and accordion. She played the organ at the Little Sandusky Bible Church for many years. Hazel and her husband Joe were avid fans of the Sycamore Wildcat basketball team during the early ’50s. They were always in attendance at all the home and away games. She always loved basketball games and later became a loyal fan of the Ohio State Buckeye team never missing a game on television. Hazel loved her church, music, animals, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Bringman Clark Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky.  A funeral service will then be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Sycamore.
