Carol R. Thiery, age 63, of rural Rushsylvania and formerly of Sycamore, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.
She was born on July 1, 1955, in Wyandot County to Robert and Betty (Stallings) Richardson. She married Carl E. Thiery on June 15, 1985, and he survives.
Surviving are the following children: Robert W. Thiery, Seattle, Wash., and Megan E. (Kyle) Vaughn, Jacksonville, N.C., plus one sister, Karen L. Richardson, Bellefontaine.
Carol was an elementary school teacher, having taught eight years at Sycamore Elementary School, which was part of the Mohawk School system. She was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Russells Point.
Carol was a 1973 graduate of Mohawk High School, 1977 graduate of Miami University, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and also a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendents. For hobbies Carol loved gardening, baking and doing genealogy.
A funeral mass for Carol will be held on Friday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Sycamore, with the Rev. Shawn Landenwitch officiating. Burial will follow at Smithville Cemetery, Wyandot County. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 17, from 5-8 p.m. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore.
