Born Sept. 3, 1944, in Wyandot County, he was the son of Earl E. and Florene E. (Fruth) Walter. He married Jane M. Smith on Oct. 7, 1961, at the E.U.B. Church in Carey.
Jane survives in rural Findlay. Claren was a member of the last class to graduate from Wharton High School. He was a lifelong Hancock County grain and livestock farmer. He also drove truck, hauling Jeep vehicles and International bus chassis. He was a member of Teamsters Local 540 in Springfield.
