Howard Pahl

Howard W. Pahl, 92, of Carey, died at 7:36 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at the O.S.U. Wexner Center in Columbus surrounded by his family.
Born in Wyandot County, he was the son of Firmen and Agnes (Wright) Pahl. He married Rita Ann Fredritz on Nov. 22, 1951, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey. Rita survives in Carey.     He is also survived by a son, Anthony “Tony” Pahl, two grandchildren, Ryan Pahl of Marion, and Rachel Pahl of Mt. Gilead. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Harold Pahl, Cleo “Sam” Pahl, Mildred Frankart and David Pahl.
Howard was a lifelong Wyandot County farmer. He was a past president of the U.S. Commission Company board of directors in Upper Sandusky.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion #344. He was also a member of the V.F.W. #3759, Wyandot Sportsmen’s Club and Wyandot County Farm Bureau.
He was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation and the K of C 1925 both in Carey.
Howard enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie, bowling and gardening.
Family and friends will be received 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. A rosary service will be held at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
A mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey with the Rev. Tom Merrill, OFM Conv, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s cemetery in Carey. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Carey Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to masses or the donor’s choice and sent to Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay Street, Carey, OH 43316.
