Gary Bishop

Gary L. Bishop, 78, of Upper Sandusky, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, at 1:45 a.m. at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
Born in Wyandot County on Sept. 16, 1940, he was the son of the late Carlton L. and Rema E. (Casteel) Bishop.
He is survived by a sister, Sue (Fred) Thompson, Carey; a nephew, Matthew Perkins; a niece, Katie Phoenix, Carey; a step-nephew, John Thompson; and four cousins, Bruce (Rosemary) Schoenberger and their son, Chris Schoenberger, Upper Sandusky; Ivan Bishop, Circleville; Darvan Schoenberger, North Adams, Mich.; and Daryl Schoenberger, Ames, Iowa.
Gary was employed at Angeline Industries, Upper Sandusky. He was an artist and was proud of his artwork which was displayed and sold at the Art Connection in Carey. Gary will be missed by many, especially those visiting Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Sandusky, where he resided the past 10 years. You would often see him sitting near the entrance greeting people as they entered.
He was a member of the former St. Paul Community Church in Vanlue.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Bloom Cemetery near Vanlue.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Art Connection and sent to Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay Street, Carey, OH 43316.
