Ralph Kessler

Ralph E. Kessler, 75, of rural Carey, died at 11:03 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2019, at ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital in Fostoria, surrounded by his family.
Born Jan. 16, 1944, in Tiffin, he was the son of Peter E. “Ed” and Cartha G. (Phillips) Kessler. He married Linda A. Maas on Nov. 19, 1971, in Toledo. She survives in rural Carey.
Also surviving are his son, Lance (Nikki) Kessler of rural Carey; three grandchildren, Madison, Alec and Logan Kessler; four siblings, Lawrence (Beverly) Kessler of Tiffin; Alfred Kessler of Findlay; Janet (Kenneth) Frankhart of Bascom; and Theresa (William) Lortz of Carey.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Matthew A. Kessler; an infant son, Luke Kessler; and a brother, James Kessler.
A 1962 graduate of Carey High School, Ralph went on to serve his country as an U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
Ralph was a life long farmer. He had also worked at Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria and drove truck for L-H Transport in Upper Sandusky.
He was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, VFW #3759 and American Legion #344, both in Carey. Not being one to sit, he enjoyed the outdoors and tinkering with whatever he felt needed fixed. He loved his family and spoiling his grandchildren.
Friends will be received Friday, March 29, from 4-8 p.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m. at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, with the Rev. Tom Merrill, OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Carey, with military graveside rites conducted by the Carey Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Matthew A. Kessler Scholarship Fund or the charity of the donor’s choice and sent to Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay Street, Carey, OH 43316.
