Billy Rickle Sr.
Billy Gene Rickle Sr., 81, of Wharton, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at St. Vincent Medical Center Burn Unit.
He was born in Wharton on March 7, 1938, to the late Elmer Lee and Florence (Farthing) Rickle.
Bill married Phylis Moser on Oct. 20, 1956, and she survives along with six children, Gary (Debra – deceased) Rickle of Wharton; Jody Noel of Dunkirk; Cris (Kelly) Rickle of Mt. Blanchard; Billy Gene (Stacy) Rickle Jr. of Wharton; Brad (Peggy) Rickle of Dunkirk; and Marybeth (Doug) Howard of Findlay. Bill is also survived by two sisters, Treva (John – deceased) Bakies of Carey; and Betty (Marion – deceased) Bardon of Channahon, Ill.; 23 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Wilma Rickle, Jackie Rickle, Mary Rickle, and Ilah Rickle.
He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Erik, Rachel and Ashley; brothers, Dale (Ethel), Harold (Reva), Howard, Leonard (Esther), Gerold, Dwight and Wayne Rickle; sister, Bernita (Jack) Runion; and two infant sisters.
Bill retired from Atlas Crankshaft after 24 years of service. In later
years, he worked at Rick Runion’s Used Car Center. He took pride in
everything he did and was very passionate about cars. Bill was extremely proud of his family and enjoyed his grandchildren. He had a special relationship with his great-grandson Jack, whom he would babysit every Friday.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 12, from 3-8 p.m. at Crates Funeral Home, Arlington. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 13, at 11 a.m. at Wharton First Church of God, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. The Rev. David Odegard will officiate and burial will follow at Wharton-Richland-Union Cemetery.
