Dennis Mewhorter

Dennis J. Mewhorter, 75, of Upper Sandusky, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019, at OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.
He was born Feb. 1, 1944, in Bucyrus, to the late Russell and Martha Jane (Ellis) Mewhorter.
On June 21, 1968, he married Beverly A. Swerlein and they celebrated 51 years of marriage.  Beverly survives in Upper Sandusky.
Also surviving are their children, Alissa Mewhorter, Carey; Matthew Mewhorter, Upper Sandusky; and Kate (Ben Eickholt) Mewhorter, Upper Sandusky; three grandchildren, Nolan and Macy Mewhorter and Hunter Eickholt; a brother, Bruce (Joyce) Mewhorter, Upper Sandusky; two sisters, Sue (Steve) Zender, Carey; and Nancy Nocera, Upper Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Doug Mewhorter; and a brother-in-law, Joe Nocera.
Denny graduated from USHS with the class of 1962. He worked for over 40 years as an insurance agent throughout Ohio and was a lifetime grain farmer. Mr. Mewhorter served in the Ohio National Guard for six years. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, taxidermy, gardening, maintaining his fruit trees, fishing in Canada, going to his place on Lake Erie, spending time at the local coffee shop visiting with friends and most of all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Bringman Clark Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. A funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Rodney Donohoo officiating. Interment will be held at Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
