Arnold Riedel

Arnold E. Riedel, 91, of Sycamore, died at 7:02 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2020, at home.

He was born on Nov. 14, 1928, in Deunquat, to Layton D. and Hildred A. (Stoner) Riedel. He married Alice L. (Romanko) Riedel on Jan. 21, 1953, and she survives.
Surviving are the following children, Galen L. Riedel, rural Sycamore, and Cynthia Riedel, Jackson, Wyo. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Nicholas (Cindy) Riedel, Seth (Jenny) Riedel and Rachel Riedel and friend Michelle Dedrick; plus three great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Lyssa Riedel; two sisters, Karis Schroeder, Leipsic, and Carol (Carl) Steinhauser, Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Riedel, on July 5, 2012, three brothers and three sisters and a daughter-in-law, Deb Wood.

He was a retired farmer, previously worked at the former Deunquat Elevator, National Lime and Stone and was a custodian for the Mohawk School System. He also served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict where he achieved the rank of sergeant.

For hobbies Arnold loved to bake pies, go camping, hunt wild game, hunt morel mushrooms and look for arrowheads. He and Alice spent winters later in life in Quartzsite, Ariz.

Per Arnold’s request he has donated his body to the Ohio State University College of Medicine for anatomical research so their will be no services at this time.
