Clair Shane

Clair E. Shane, 85, of Sandusky and formerly of Carey, died at 6 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2020, at Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
Clair was born June 23, 1934, in Crawford Township to Ernist and Rose (Updegraff) Shane. He married Sue Ellen Gibson and they later divorced.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Carol June Sturch and Marilyn Huston, and a niece, Candace Huston.
Clair graduated from Carey High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 in the 899th Tank Battalion. He retired as barber at Shane’s Barbershop in Carey. He was formerly a member of Carey Kiwanis, Carey Jaycees, Carey American Legion Earl Green Post 344, Carey Eagles and Carey VFW. Clair was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Carey. He was a sports fan.
Graveside rites will be held at a later date at Zion Bloom Cemetery, rural Vanlue.
Arrangements were handled by Beach Funeral Home, Carey.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
