Doris Flack
Doris M. Flack, 89, of rural Carey, died at 11 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at home.
She was born on Aug. 21, 1930 in Wyandot County, to Edward E. and Myrtle I. (Burks) Newland. She married Wayne R. Flack on April 11, 1953, and he died Feb. 16, 2016.
Surviving are two daughters, Connie (Rod) Scharr, Bloomville, and Kathy (Tom) Bateson, Arlington. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Blair Gosche, Adam (Jessica) Bateson, Ciara (Chandler) Heavrin and Logan Bateson; plus five great-grandchildren, Tyson Eaken, Jaden Bateson, Westin Bateson, Guner Bateson, Madix Heavrin and one sister, Clarabelle Clark, rural Carey.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Delbert Newland, besides her husband and parents.
Doris was a homemaker and had worked at GE Plant in Tiffin. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in McCutchenville, where over her lifetime she served on many committees throughout the church. She was a 1948 graduate of McCutchenville High School, loved to play Bingo, take walks, mow her yard, spend time with her grandchildren and coached girls’ softball for many years. She played softball until she was 53 years old.
A private family graveside service will be held at Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky, with Pastor Elyse Everhart and Chaplain Kathy Fenimore officiating.
