Darlene Walter

Darlene A. Walter, 64, of Findlay and formerly of Carey, died at 5:50 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2020, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.
Born June 29, 1955 in Upper Sandusky, She was the daughter of Paul E. and Mary Kathryn (Pennington) Walter. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-mother, D. Welma Walter.
Darlene never had children, but dedicated her life to many women at the Broken Arrow home in Carey for 28 years. Very rarely did you see Darlene without a van full of “her girls” going on a day trip somewhere, especially Amish country.
She is survived by five siblings, Arlene K. Bennett, Ted E. Walter and Sharon S. Nuzum, all of Findlay, Vern E. Walter of Honolulu, Hawaii, and twin sister, Marlene A. Hansen of Bourbonnais, Ill.; three step-siblings, Dale Heuberger of Toledo, Doris L. Walker of Risingsun, and Darlene A. Knowlton of Findlay.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, Gene A. and John W. Walter; a sister, Ilene Walter; and a step-brother, Donald R. Heuberger.
Darlene was a former member of Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene near Carey and Wyandot County Board of the United Way. She was very active with the Wyandot County Summer Special Olympics for many years.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, June 5, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Social distancing and COVID-19 protocol will be followed. The family understands if you are not comfortable attending the visitation or service. They ask that you go to and leave a special memory of Darlene or condolences to the family.
Darlene’s funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, at Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene near Carey, with the Rev. John Ernberger and Andrew DeKemper officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey.
Memorial contributions may be made to Angeline School of Opportunity or Wyandot County Special Olympics and sent to Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St. Carey, OH. 43316.
