Billy Smith

Billy L. Smith, 83, Upper Sandusky, formerly of Carey, died Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky.
He was born on Aug. 28, 1936 in Lexington, Miss., son of the late Charles W. and Vallie L. (Malone) Smith.
Billy is survived by two children, Rich (Carol) Smith, Upper Sandusky, and Melody (Kai) Aryana, Baton Rouge, La.; three grandchildren; and his long time companion, Deb Voorhees, Upper Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Billy was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army. He had worked as a welder retiring from National Lime and Stone in Carey. He worked in shipyards in Mississippi and the “original pipeline.”
He loved nature, especially feeding and watching birds and squirrels. He enjoyed making crafts out of metal. He loved his dog, Abby.
Billy was a member of Moose Lodge #1093 in Upper Sandusky.
At Billy’s request, there will be no visitation or service.
Arrangements are entrusted to Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey.
