Elsie Lake

Elsie I. Lake, 84, of Carey, died Thursday, July 2, 2020, at 7:16 p.m. at her residence.
Born in Cragsmoor, N.Y. on Jan. 27, 1936, she was the daughter of John and Isabelle (Martyn) Stedner.
She married John Lake Jr. on June 5, 1954 in Ellenville, N.Y. He preceded her in death on July 9, 2009.
Surviving are their 10 children, Theresa (Kenneth) Esemann, Seattle, Wash.; John H. Lake, Knoxville, Tenn.; Diane McKinstrie, Jacksonville, Fla.; Robert J. Lake, Carey; Pam (Mike) Sorg, Carey; Kathy (Jerry) Billings, Upper Sandusky; Pearl (Ed) DeGroodt, Maybrooke, N.Y.; Wayne E. Lake, Carey; Richard A. Lake, Alvada; Mark J. Lake, Findlay; 21 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, two siblings, Stan Stedner, N.C.; and Bertha Smith, Walker Valley, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, George, John and Joe and a sister, Ella Stedner.
Elsie was a homemaker. She had worked at Bell telephone as a switchboard operator and at an apple orchard in Walden, N.Y.
She enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Jimmy Johnson and collecting bear memorabilia. She loved her dog, Ginger and her bird, Tweetie.
There will be no service at this time.
