Kathy Niederkohr

Kathy L. Niederkohr, 66, of Carey, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020.
Born March 13, 1954 in Findlay, she was the daughter of Orville and Barbara Ann (May) Ratliff. She married Michael A. Niederkohr on Feb. 22, 1974 at the Original Shrine Church in Carey. Michael survives in Carey.
Kathy is also survived by two daughters, Leanne (Rich) Frederick and Alyson (Vern) Row, both of Carey; five grandchildren, Grant and Carter Frederick, McKenzie, Rylee and Hunter Row; a sister, Cindy Wenzinger of Vanlue; and two brothers-in-law, Steve Mays of Lima and Don Shuster of Harpster.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Annetta Shuster and Gaynell Mays; a brother, Orville Hamilton Ratliff; and a brother-in-law, Earl Wenzinger.
A 1972 graduate of Carey High School, she worked in the banking industry and at Creeger Implement in Carey for many years. She retired from Stansbery, Schoenberger and Scheck Law office after 16 years of service.
Kathy’s passion to care for others was evident as a former member of Carey EMS. She also taught CPR and first aid for the American Red Cross for many years.
Kathy lived a quiet life and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also had a circle of friends she enjoyed going to dinner with on a regular basis to catch up on the latest gossip.
Friends will be received 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. Her memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. John Bamman, OFM Conv., officiating.
