Sondra Vaughn

Sondra Kay “Sonny” Vaughn, 57, of Carey, passed away peacefully in her home at 4:50 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, 2020.
She was born Dec. 27, 1962, in Findlay to Sharon Kay Murray. After her mother’s death, she was adopted and raised by her grandmother, Lilly M. Murray.
Sonny married John Vaughn on May 21, 1986, and he survives in Carey. She is survived by two daughters, Natasha “Tasha” Vaughn of Carey and Kristy (Adam) Kahler of Tiffin; a grandson, Jayden King; a sister, Terri Fabo of Forest; and a brother, William “Bud” Murray of Toledo.
She was preceded in death by her mother and grandmother; a brother, Rodney Murray; and a sister, Judy Tiell.
Sonny was a 1981 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband as office manager of Vaughn’s Welding and Fabrication in Carey. She, along with her daughter, Tasha, founded Hickory Hills Services in Carey.
She was a member of the Carey Conservation Sportsman’s Association and was the bookkeeper for the Women’s Club. She loved nature and would venture into the woods to meditate for relaxation and self comfort. Sonny enjoyed reading anything she could get her hands on and absorbed it all.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. Her funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with chaplain Steve Sturgeon officiating.
