Edna Woods
Edna Mae Woods, 92, formerly of Carey, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.
Born Aug. 1, 1928, in McDowell County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Nannie (Gillespie) Collins.
She married Carlie Layman Woods on Aug. 2, 1947, in Pikesville, Ky. They spent 68 loving years together. He preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 2015.
She was greatly loved by her three children, Roger, Irvin and Susie;
Roger L. (deceased) and Rose Woods of Carey and their family: Tammy Hailey and her sons: Roger (Julia)(son, Forrest) and Joseph, Scott (Tonia) Woods and their four children: Alexandria (Nathan) Schalk, Victoria (Chadd) Clifford, Gavin Woods and Lance Woods;
Irvin R. (Janice) Woods, Upper Sandusky and their family: Brian (Julie) Woods and their three children: Leah, Sarah and Michael;
Bernice A. “Susie” (Alan) Pelphrey and their family: Patrick (Katie) Pelphrey and their two children: Kamryn and Hudsyn and Valerie (Destrey) Roeber and their three children: Carlie, Lydia and Taylor; and two sisters, Demmie (Jim) Tidwell, Florida and Mildred (Greg) Spencer, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by four siblings, Mary Sweigard, Henry Collins, George Collins and Marvin Collins.
Edna was a 1946 graduate of Welch High School. She retired from working in the Carey Schools cafeteria. She has also worked at RCA in Findlay.
She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Carey and an active member of WSCS.
She was a member of the Carey Garden Club and a Carey Welcome Wagon hostess. Edna loved tending to her flowers and spending time, sharing life experiences and making Christmas candy with her grandchildren. Edna and Layman enjoyed traveling the United States with the Central Ohio Travel Club.
Due to COVID-19, there will be no visitation. A private family graveside service will be held in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey, with the Rev. Kevin Wilcox officiating.
