Donald Monroe Jr.

Donald T. Monroe Jr., 92, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Dec. 27, 2020, at 10:45 a.m. at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Upper Sandusky.
Don was born in Eagleport to Donald T. Sr. and Velma (Stone) Monroe, both of whom are deceased. He married Jean Marshall on July 5, 1958, in Zanesville, and she passed away on Oct. 3, 2004.
He is survived by his three sons, Michael Monroe of Findlay, Dennis Monroe of Carey, and Donald T. Monroe III of Upper Sandusky; four grandchildren,  Mark Spoon, Michael Monroe II, Heather Monroe and Amanda Mooney; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a granddaughter, Leanna; two brothers, Roy Grant Monroe and James Robert Monroe; and a sister, Garoldine McFerren.
Don was a 1946 graduate of Zanesville High School and went into the service at the age of 17, serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked for over 22 years as a maintenance supervisor for Whirpool in Findlay. Before that he had worked for Westinghouse in Upper Sandusky.
He was a life member of the VFW #3759 in Carey, life member of the Amvets #777, Moose Lodge #1093 in Upper Sandusky, and life member of both the American Legion Post #225 and BPOE #83, Upper Sandusky.
For hobbies he enjoyed camping with his wife, traveling around the states and bowling.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 31, from 10-11 a.m. at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. the same day at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will take place at Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky, where military graveside rites will be conducted.
