Carolyn Dauterman

Carolyn A. Dauterman, 75, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Upper Sandusky.
Carolyn was born on March 18, 1945, in Columbus, to Charles C. and Lucy Katherine (Irwin) Smith and they preceded her in death.
Carolyn is survived by her four children, David P. (Melissa) Dauterman Jr. of Mansfield; Jeffrey M. Dauterman of Carey; Christopher M. (Jeanmarie) Dauterman of McMinnville, Ore.; and Melissa A. Dauterman Seal of West Jefferson; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild; her brother, David C. (Kendra) Smith of Fort Wayne, Ind.; one niece and two nephews; four great-nephews; and numerous cousins.
Carolyn graduated from Waite High School in Toledo, class of 1964 – the 50th graduating class from Waite, where she sang in the choir. Carolyn was a homemaker for many years raising her four children. She then owned and operated “Dauterman’s News and Gifts” for over 25 years in Upper Sandusky. During her retirement, she was a loving caregiver to her aunt Adda Zimmerman.
Carolyn was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky for over 46 years, Warpole Chapter #366 OES where she served as Worthy Matron from 1990-1991, member of the Parents’ and Mothers’ Club of The Order of DeMolay, Rainbow IORG, Lotus Assembly #20, Toledo, volunteered to help RAM Boosters while her children were in school, she was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a Star Player where she acted in several performances at the Star Theatre in Upper Sandusky.
Carolyn loved watching NASCAR and rooting for her favorite driver #24 Jeff Gordon, watching Broadway plays that were adapted into movies and of course watching the Ohio State Buckeyes football – especially when they would play the Michigan Wolverines. She loved to travel to see family, spending time at Maumee State Park, going to Cedar Point when she was younger, enjoyed cooking and baking and collected all of her family’s recipes.
A memorial service for Carolyn A. Dauterman will be announced at a later date.
