Gary E. Haferd, 69, of Carey, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
Born on Feb. 19, 1951, in Tiffin, he was the son of the late Edward W. and Oread E. (McKinnon) Haferd.
Gary married Barbara M. Miller on April 19, 1974, at Our Lady of Consolation, Carey. She survives in Carey.
He is survived by a sister, Kathy (Wayne) Dodds, Findlay; a brother-in-law, Tim (Cathy) Miller, Tiro; two sisters-in-law: Irene (Michael) Burd, Tiffin; and Dolores (Jeff) Hoffman, Galion; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Gary was a 1970 graduate of Carey High School and retired from National Lime and Stone after 43 years of service.
He was a member of The Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey.
Gary loved his Honda Gold Wing motorcycles. He and Barb looked forward to two weeks of relaxation on the open road every summer with their biking brothers, Duane, Dan, Bud and Del. They managed to hit 40 states, some many times. He enjoyed tinkering in his shop, doing yardwork and cutting wood during the winter with his buddy, Kenny Kessler. He derived great pleasure teasing and aggravating everyone who crossed his path.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Susan G. Komen and sent to Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay Street, Carey, OH 43316.
