Mary Orwick

Mary Lucille Orwick, 85, of rural Carey, passed away peacefully at 10:25 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at her residence with family by her side.
Born Oct. 22, 1935, in Sycamore, and was raised by Merrill and Lucille Ritter. She married Dennis E. Orwick on Nov. 24, 1956, at North Salem Lutheran Church near Upper Sandusky. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2008.
Surviving are three daughters: Denise Orwick and Deanna (Paul) Black, both of Carey, and Mindy (Jay Swinehart) Orwick of Upper Sandusky; six grandchildren: Logan, Brandon, Noah and Lydia Black, Devon Orwick and Creston Getz; a brother, Kenneth Moran of Upper Sandusky, and a sister, Susie Conklin of Sunbury.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Richard Moran and infant, Glen Moran.
Mary graduated from Salem (Township) High School in 1953. She was a homemaker and worked at the former Woody’s Restaurant in Upper Sandusky.
She was a long time member of North Salem Lutheran Church and current member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky, as well as a Girl Scout leader for many years.
Mary enjoyed gardening, canning and baking. She also enjoyed bowling back in the day.
Family was, by far, the most important aspect of her life. She especially loved spoiling her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from noon-2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. following the visitation, with the Rev. Barry Halter Jr. officiating.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in North Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery near Upper Sandusky.
