Phyllis Gretzinger

Phyllis Ann Gretzinger, 76, of Upper Sandusky, passed away peacefully at 2:38 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at her residence with family by her side.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1944, in Dover, to the late Edward J. and Irene L. (McGilton) Starkey. She married Charles E. Gretzinger on Sept. 12, 1965, in Ashland. Charles survives in Upper Sandusky.
Surviving are a son, E. Jay (Kandy) Gretzinger of Carey; a daughter, Linda S. (Mike) Siegel of Upper Sandusky; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Donna) Starkey of Ashland; and a sister-in-law, Linda Starkey of Bucyrus.
Preceding her in death were a son, Charles E. “Chuckie” Gretzinger and a brother, Terry Starkey.
Phyllis graduated from Ashland High School in 1963 and graduated from cosmetology school in Columbus. She was a hairdresser at Indian Trail Nursing Home in Carey for 15 years. Needing something to keep her busy, she took a “fun job” at the Dairy Snack in Upper Sandusky for several years. She was a former Girl Scout leader in Upper Sandusky and was a life member of the Amvets 777 in Upper Sandusky.
Friends will be received 9:30-11 a.m. on Friday, March 5, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. the same day at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Sturgeon officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky.
