Susan Waltermeyer

Susan Louise Waltermeyer, 67, of Carey, passed away peacefully at 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
Born Feb. 24, 1954, in Tiffin, she was the daughter of Carl “Tubb” and Mary “Booty” (Haubert) Collet. They survive in Adrian. She married Dennis Waltermeyer on Oct. 21, 1972, in St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Frenchtown. Dennis survives in Fostoria.
Sue is survived by three children: Anthony John Waltermeyer of North Baltimore, Jamie Lynn (Jeremy) Frazier of Carey and Jason Richard Waltermeyer of Fostoria; five grandchildren: Leslie, Alex, Tyler, Sami and Stevie; a great-grandson, Anthony; and four siblings: Karen (Ricky) Allen of Erie, Mich., Barb Dyer, Angie Garner and Gary (Shirley) Collet, all of Carey.
She graduated from New Riegel High School in 1972 and attended the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey.
Sue loved being a homemaker, raising her children and babysitting her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her love of children did not end with family. She gave of herself to be a foster parent before starting her family.
For hobbies, she enjoyed playing Bingo to support Our Lady of Consolation School, attending craft shows, making candy and collecting angels.
Friends will be received from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 26, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, with the Rev. John Bamman, OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will follow at St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery in Frenchtown.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and sent to Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay Street, Carey, OH 43316.
