Richard Lee
Richard Rae Lee, 86, of Findlay, passed away at 3:45 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at his home.
He was born on Sept. 11, 1934, in Wyandot County, to the late Everet and Avonell (Robinson) Lee. He married Shirley L. Gillespie on Oct. 18, 1953, and she passed April 2, 2021.
Richard is also survived by his sons: Thomas R. (Debra) Lee of Vanlue and Andrew R. (Erika) Lee of Westerville; daughters: Debra L. (Russ) Lindsey of Washington Court House and Diane J. (Jeff) Hannah of West Salem; twin brother, Eugene (Sue) Lee of Bluffton; grandchildren: Jay R. (Tiffany) Lindsey of Washington Court House, Kinsy M. (Luke) Pilmore-Lee of Carey, Candis J. (J.G.) Conley of Washington Court House; Joshua A. (Amanda) Calame of Ashland; Cally J. Felger (Alex) of Findlay; Jenna N. Hannah of Gassaway, W.Va.; and great-grandchildren, Caden Pilmore, Angel Sheets, Savanah Hannah, Bailee Chapman, Jaxon Wallace, Reagan Lindsey, Sawyer Conley and Jacob Calame. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Jeremy Hannah.
Richard was a 1952 graduate of Vanlue High School. He was a member of Vanlue Christ United Methodist Church. Richard spent his entire life on the family farm. He was a stoic, soft spoken and authentic man that was dedicated to his family and community. He was an avid follower and supporter of the families endeavors into playing and coaching a variety of sports. He spent the better part of four decades driving around the state showing his backing.
Richard and Shirley were together 70 years, married 68 of them. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, having attended their basketball games from 1977-2010. He served on the Vanlue Grain Elevator board for many years. He enjoyed many vacations with family members to Lake Erie, Colorado, Tennessee, California, Alaska and Hilton Head.
A celebration of life service will be held at noon Tuesday, April 27, at Vanlue Christ United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bob Greene and the Rev. Dave Noel will be officiating. Interment will be at Lee Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-noon prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay.
