James Sparks II
James N. “Sparky” Sparks II, 76, of Carey, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021, at his home.
Born May 28, 1945, in Findlay, he was the son of the late James N. and Madeline (Risner) Sparks.
Sparky attended Carey High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy on board the USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. DD 850. He later became a member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union 42 in Norwalk and used those skills while working for O.H. Materials in Findlay and maintenance at Budd Company in Carey, where he retired in 2011.
He was a member of the Carey American Legion #344, Carey Masonic Bodies and Shriner’s Temple in Toledo.
Sparky loved boating, fishing, snowmobiling and good bluegrass music.
Friends were scheduled to be received from noon-2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. Services will follow at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Cynthia Morrison officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey, with military graveside rites conducted by the Carey Honor Guard.
