Barbara Orazen

Barb Orazen, 74, died unexpectedly on Aug. 1, 2021, at her home in Novelty.
She was born July 25, 1947, in Carey, the daughter of William and Rosetta O’Flaherty.
Barb graduated from Carey High School in 1965. She then attended dental assistant college in Elkhart, Ind. She later studied horticultural at Potomac State University in Keyser, W.Va. She fell in love with Michael Orazen while working as a dental assistant in Columbus. They were married on June 10, 1967. Barb was an incredible Mom, homemaker, cook, friend, Grandma and partner to her husband Mike in every aspect of life and business. On June 10, 2021, they celebrated 53 years of marriage and partnership.
Barb enjoyed gardening, her bridge club and sitting on the front porch with Mike reflecting on the things they had created together and dreaming of the things yet to come … particularly after beating him in cards! Her greatest passion and purpose was family … and for Barb, family reached beyond relatives. She spread her love, joy and compassion with a very wide net.
Barb was predeceased by her parents. Surviving in addition to her husband Michael are her sons, Michael II and wife, Kerrie of Hudson, and Gabriel and his wife Vicki of Chagrin Falls; her daughters, Jennifer McKee and husband Smith of Chagrin Falls, and Patricia Glass and her husband Matthew of Chagrin Falls; fourteen grandchildren, Michael (Max) Orazen III, William Orazen, Katherine Orazen, Claire Orazen, Emma Orazen, Lilly Orazen, Abigail Orazen, Jackson Orazen, Sara McKee, Smitty McKee, Sean McKee, Trent Glass, Beau Glass and Annie Glass. She is also survived by nine brothers and sisters, all of which loved her and many of which saw her stand in mother.
A mass will be held at Holy Angels Church in Bainbridge on Friday, Aug. 6, at 11 a.m. Immediately following there will be a celebration of a life well lived held at The Orazen Barn, Novelty.
In lieu of flowers, Barb would want you all to plan a day with family to live, laugh and love together. If you insist on sending flowers, contact Stroud Lawrence Funeral Home, Chagrin Falls, for the address: www.stroudlawrence.com.
