Ada Marshall

Ada M. Marshall, 79, of rural Carey, passed away at 1:54 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at the OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
Born April 26, 1942, in Prestonburg, Ky., she was the daughter of the late George P. and Emma (Marsellet) Adams. She married Earl Marshall and they divorced.
Surviving are her three children, Janet (Greg) Elchert of New Riegel, Judy Cole of Alvada and David “Peach” Marshall of rural Carey; three grandchildren, Preston Elchert, Presley (Andrew) Long and Paige Marshall; a granddaughter, Prynlee Long; and a brother, William Adams of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Roberta Nelson and Madgie Ousley.
Ada graduated from Prestonsburg High School in Prestonsburg, Ky., and not long after moved to the Carey area. She was a farmhand for the Vernon Stone and Delbert Marshall potato farms, as well as, helped babysit the Marshall family’s children. Ada was also employed by Alvada Construction as housekeeper for Bill Kirk for several years. She retired from Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Sandusky after 10 years of service in the housekeeping department.
First and foremost was her family. She loved spoiling her grandchildren. She also had a passion for quilting, flower and vegetable gardening and canning.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 11, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.
Ada’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with expenses.
