Doris “Puggy” Frey
Doris E. “Puggy” Frey, 77, of Carey and formerly of Findlay, passed away suddenly at 10:21 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, near her residence in Carey.
Born on Jan. 25, 1944, in Carey, she was the daughter of the late Dale M. and Mary M. (Ritter) Plott. She married Norman F. Frey in 1964 and he preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1983. They had two sons, Darrel A. Frey and Mark A. Frey. Mark survives near Nevada and Darrel preceded her in death in 2015.
Doris is also survived by five granddaughters, Ashley Frey, Amanda Byrne, Crystal Bollinger, Christina Frey and Kendra Sours; three great-grandchildren, Carter Powell, Wyatt Byrne and Austyn Bollinger; two brothers, Martin Plott and Thomas (Linda) Plott, both of Carey; and a brother in-law, Tom Kennedy. She is also survived by her four-legged companion, Puggy.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Delores Kennedy and Sheila Turnbell; a brother in-law, Tim Turnbell; and a sister in-law, Peggy Plott.
Doris graduated from Carey High School in 1962. Her working career started at Budd Co. in Carey. After moving to Findlay, she began working at Centrex and retired from St. Catherine’s Nursing Home, both in Findlay.
Everyone who knew Doris can attest she was a very strong willed person. You definitely knew where you stood with her at all times. She was a little on the ornery side and it was passed down to her granddaughters. Her legacy will live on through them.
At Doris’ request, there will not be a visitation or service at this time. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Carey.
Arrangements were handled by Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey.
