Mary Patrick

Mary Elizabeth (Brown) Patrick, 87, of Carey, beloved mother and grandmother, was peacefully called to her heavenly home at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.
Born Feb. 23, 1935, in Carey, she was the daughter of the late Guy M. and Dorothy (Twining) Brown.
She married the love of her life, Richard Wilbur Patrick on July 11, 1955, in Angola, Ind. They were blessed with five children, all surviving: Amy Johns of Findlay, Richard (Peggy) Patrick of DuBois, Penn.; Brock (Lisa) Patrick of Bloomdale, Christopher (Diana) Patrick of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; and Kara (Mike) Green of Wadsworth. Mary is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, James W. Brown and a son-in-law, Pat Johns.
Mary worked at various places over the years, but took great pride in being a homemaker and raising five wonderful children. She kept herself busy baking, especially chocolate chip cookies and crocheting. Each of her great-grandchildren have been blessed with a blanket crocheted by Grandma Patrick. Having a “green thumb,” she loved gardening and saving plants. Nothing better than turning brown to green. She also enjoyed feeding the birds.
Mary loved staying sharp mentally, physically and spiritually. Mentally, she enjoyed the challenge of a good crossword puzzle or jigsaw puzzle. Physically, it was going to balance classes at Whole Life Fitness in Upper Sandusky, and spiritually, attending Bible studies at Blanchard River Church of Christ in Forest. If that wasn’t enough, Mary loved donating to the children at OLC School while playing Bingo with her friends.
Mary enjoyed many things, but her family was at the top of her list. She loved spending time with them whenever possible. She and her daughter, Amy, loved taking bus trips to different locations. The last to Nashville just this past November.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 4, at the funeral home with the Rev. Aaron Varner officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian radio station WXML and sent to the funeral home.
