Lois Brooks

Lois J. Brooks, 89, of Vanlue, passed away at 11:24 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.
Born Oct. 5, 1932 in Carey, she was the daughter of Roscoe N. and Bertha V. (Hotelling) Patterson. She married Paul J. Brooks on Nov. 23, 1950. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2005.
Lois is survived by three children, Robert (Sherry) Brooks of Vanlue, Ronald J. (Helen) Brooks of Upper Sandusky and John L. Brooks of Carey; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson on the way.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, daughter, Connie Kessler; two sisters, Donna Gaster and Pauline Row; and a brother, Roscoe Patterson.
Lois attended Carey High School and was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Carey. Lois was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband as secretary for Brooks Trucking in Vanlue for 20 plus years. In retirement, she was a transport driver for Wagner Motors in Fostoria.
She and her husband enjoyed the same hobby, standard breed harness racing. She was a member of the United States Trotting Association and a founding member of the Child Conservation League in Vanlue.
Lois was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and playing taxi for her grandchildren. Spending time at Lake Erie with her family was always the highlight of many summers. There was nothing better than camping, fishing, boating and skiing with her family.
The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, March 4, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, with the Rev. John Bamman, OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Carey.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice and sent to the funeral home.
