Wanda Orians

Wanda M. Orians, 85, formerly of Carey, died at 9:44 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at The Heritage, Findlay, where she had resided the nearly past two years.
She was born June 15, 1936, in Carey, to Peter J. and Stella R. (Boes) Niederkohr who preceded her in death. On June 18, 1960, she married Jene E. Orians, who preceded her in death on July 3, 2006.
She was a loving and supportive mother and mother-in-law to Patrick A. (Kimberly) Orians of Elida and Holly A. (Mark) Rickenbacher of Findlay. She was the grandmother to five grandchildren, Abigail (Jordan) Eshbaugh of Fairborn, Luke (fiance Brooke Rettig) Rickenbacher of Westerville, Connor Orians (deceased), Logan Orians of West Lafayette, Ind.; and Allyson Rickenbacher of Findlay. She leaves her four remaining siblings behind, Betty Frankart of Powell, Freda Kauffman of Carey, Jean Corron of Centerville, and E. Wade Niederkohr of Carey.
Wanda is preceded in death by the following siblings, Harold, Glenn and Robert Niederkohr; and sisters, Velma Niederkohr and Ardene Peiffer. She is also preceded in death by the following in-laws, Bernadine Niederkohr, Ray Peiffer, Jean Niederkohr, Al Frankart, Richard Billock, Mervin Kauffman, Richard Corron and Linda Niederkohr, Jack and LaDonna Orians and Verlaine King.
She was a 1954 graduate of Carey High School. She had worked at National Lime and Stone for nine years, then at Lanning Motor Sales for 36 years. She retired in 2013 after five years of service at Wagner Ford.
She was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Parish, its Altar Rosary, a eucharistic minister and a former member of its parish council and finance committees. She was the former secretary of the board of trustees on the National Shrine of OLC. She was a member of American Legion Post 344 Auxiliary. She had been on the board of directors and supervisory committee for Carey Poverello Federal Credit Union.
Wanda enjoyed baking cookies and breads, keeping the freezer full so when the children and grandchildren visited they could help themselves. She also loved to work outside, especially in her yard, gardens and flowerbeds.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 12, from 4-8 p.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, where a parish wake service will begin at 7:45 p.m. Her mass of Christian burial will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, at Our Lady of Consolation Church, with the Rev. Tom Merrill officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Wanda’s children request memorial contributions may be made to OLC Church or OLC School.
