Dessie Bunting

Dessie E. “Libby” Roebuck Bunting, 74, of Carey and formerly of North Carolina, passed away peacefully at 3:32 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the OSU Wexner Medical Center Hospice Care Unit in Columbus with her family by her side.
Born Jan. 1, 1948, in Greenville, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Oscar H. and Marjorie (Minton) Roebuck. She married Dan Gordon Bunting Jr. and he preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1992.
Prior to moving to Carey in 2006 to be closer to her daughter, Libby spent her working career doing what she did best, caring for others. She was a day care specialist for most of those years at Trinity Christian Day Care in Greenville, N.C. She later retired from Wintergreen Primary in Winterville, N.C. where she continued to share her love of people as a special education assistant.
Libby was a woman of faith and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Findlay. She truly loved her God and savior and strived to live her life as a disciple. Libby was a selfless, caring and kind person. The more she gave, the better she felt. Making people smile and feel better about themselves was her everyday goal.
Her family was everything to her. Her grandchildren put a twinkle in her eye from day one. Spoiling them was her job. She loved watching her grandsons participate in high school sporting events, as well as driving them around looking at Christmas lights. She loved Christmas not only for the lights, but it was a great excuse to give to others.
For relaxation, Libby enjoyed reading, taking walks around town and cooking. She loved doting over her cats, Binx and Smoke.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Danny (Krista) Bunting of Winterville, N.C. and Rebekah (Malcolm) Morehart of Findlay; seven grandchildren, Megan Mangum, Gage (Abby) Lowe, Gavin (Maddy) Lowe, Emma Grace Bunting, Kennedy Ann Bunting, Karsyn Avery Bunting and Ryland Lowe; two great-grandchildren, Charlee Mangum and Breylynn Lowe; and three siblings, Dolores (Bobby) Harris, Larry (Brenda) Roebuck and Bucky (Linda) Roebuck, all of Greenville, N.C. She is also survived by her special family, Jeremy and Kathryn Lowe of Upper Sandusky.
Libby will be remembered by her family as a strong, independent mom and grandma who never complained, no matter the situation. She always looked forward and put her life in God’s hands.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 28, at Grimesland Freewill Baptist Church, Grimesland, N.C., at noon. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Carey.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and sent to P.O. Box 22324 New York, NY 10087.
Arrangements are being handled by Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. Online condolences to the family may be expressed by visiting www.StombaughBatton.com.
