Dana Riedel
Dana R. Riedel, 72, of Sycamore, died at 1:18 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, 2022, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1949, in Tiffin, to Ross and Emma (Steinhilber) Riedel. He married Jean (Long) Riedel on March 13, 1971, and she survives.
He is survived by a daughter, Angela Haake and friend Jesse Detrick, Huntsville, and a son, Montgomery “Monte” (Brooke) Riedel, Kettering. Also surviving are two sisters, Paula (Kirk) Kirkpatrick, Newberry Springs, Calif., and Anita Wurm, Bucyrus; and a brother, Van (Cathy) Riedel, Crestline; plus in-laws, Carl (Deb) Long, rural Tiffin, and Diana Pentony, Tiffin; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He also had many fur baby grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by twin daughters, Jane Ann and Jill Louise Riedel, in 1972.
Dana was a Mohawk High School music teacher for 30 years, retiring in 2002. He also was the owner of Riedel’s Piano Service for 49 years.
Dana was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church where he was very active in all the music events at the church, plus other activities associated with the church. He also was the music director at Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church, rural Tiffin, for 40 years.
Dana was a 1968 graduate of Mohawk High School, 1972 graduate of Heidelberg College and formerly was working on his master’s degree at Bowling Green State University. He was a member of the Seneca County Gideons, International Piano Tuner’s Guild, Wyandot County Council of Birth Defects and was selected to be a member of the Outstanding Young Men of America.
For hobbies, he loved to play all kinds of music, gave many private music lessons to children, loved all kinds of high school and college sports and was an avid Ohio State University fan.
Funeral services for Dana will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at Harmony United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Padula and the Rev. Gary Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 4-8 p.m. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, and also from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at the church prior to the funeral service.

Dear Angie, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father, I am a BOA with Lauren Shealy in Galion, but it is such a small world, I knew your Father when he went to Heidelberg, I worked at the local music store where your Dad would purchase supplies!
