Linda Gatchell

Linda K. Gatchell, 73, of Carey, passed away at 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay with family by her side.
Linda was born on May 3, 1949, in Toledo, to Lynn and Laurinda (Moes) Kelley. She married James “Jim” Gatchell on May 4, 1968, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey. Jim preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 2022.
Linda graduated from Carey High School in 1967. She went to work at Dorcas Carey Public Library in 1978. She was named director on May 1, 1990, and held the position until her retirement on June 6, 2014.
Her family was always the focal point of her life. She loved being a grandma and great grandma.
Linda is survived by her children, James Thomas Gatchell of Findlay and Jennifer Ann (Jeff Parker) Carter of Carey; five grandchildren, Kelly Gatchell, Brandon, Aydian, Caitlyn and Victoria Carter; and four great-grandchildren, Emma and Molly Cox and Avery and Rylee Gatchell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, James “Jimmy” Gatchell and a great-granddaughter, Alainna Cox.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, with the Rev. Tom Merrill, OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Carey.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dorcas Carey Public Library or Bridge Home Health and Hospice and sent to the funeral home.
