Robert Phillips Jr.

Robert James “Buster” Phillips Jr., a man who could brighten a room with his smile and bright blue eyes, passed away at Wyandot Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023. Buster was 71 and lived most of his life in Carey.
Buster was born on Sept. 13, 1951, in Upper Sandusky, to the late Robert James and Loretta (Billock) Phillips. Buster grew up in Upper Sandusky and Carey and worked for Westinghouse/A.O. Smith in their die casting department until his retirement.
In his free time he could often be found tinkering on his Harley and was a member of the Tread Knots Motorcycle Club. He also enjoyed watching a good old Western.
Never meeting a stranger, Buster loved his life and the people in it and always accepted them as they were with his non-judgmental attitude. Above all, Buster treasured spending time with his children and family – especially his grandson, Czedric who was the highlight of his life.
Robert will be missed by his daughter, Jessica (Charles) Ropp of Forest; grandson, Czedric Ropp; step-grandson, Chaz Ropp; siblings, Carol (John) Kennedy, Gloria Gallegos, Pat Karcher, Tom Phillips (Donna Gossman) and Kathy (Mike) Moore.
In addition to his parents Buster was preceded in death by his son and sidekick Matt “Mugsy” Phillips on Aug. 8, 2020.
A eulogy will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery, Salem Township.
Arrangements were handled by Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey.
