Lyn Bell

Lyn M. Bell, 82, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023, at home. He was born in Sycamore, on June 30, 1940, to Franklin and Mary (Gregg) Bell Sr. Lyn is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Irene (Breyley) Bell.
Surviving are the following children: son, Ashton (Kathleen) Bell, and daughters, Faith (Christian) Andrews and Camilla Bell. Also surviving are the following grandchildren: Molly Kathleen Noce, Justin Marshall Leighton, Paige Marie Waites, Hannah Elizabeth (Isaac) Bulman, Noah James (Kacie) Bell and Josiah Cole Bell; and two great-grandchildren, Asher James Bulman and Ezekiel Samuel Bell; brothers, Lyle (Sheila) Bell, Michael (Sue) Bell; and a sister, Sue (Duane) Durbin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Charles, John, Lewis, Lester and Robert Bell, and sisters, Enza Fadley and Mary Etta Hemmerly.
Lyn graduated from Sycamore High School. Following his graduation, Lyn enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served four years and three days. After his tour with the Navy he continued his education to receive a four year degree from Bowling Green State University. He received a master’s degree in education from the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, Ind. Lyn was a high school English teacher at Wayne Trace High School and Lincolnview High School, both in Ohio.
Lyn was a devoted husband, dad, granddad and great-granddad.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 6, at 2 p.m. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore, with the Rev. Amy Vittorio officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, where the Sycamore American Legion Post #250 will conduct a military graveside service. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 6, from 12:30-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the celebration of life service.
