Douglas Jordan
Douglas J. “Dougie-Pooh” Jordan, 74, of Carey, passed away peacefully at 4:48 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
Born Dec. 30, 1948, in Hardin County, he was the son of Wilbur F. and I. Marcella (Winebrenner) Jordan.
Doug graduated from Upper Sandusky High School. He was a Vietnam era veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
Doug retired from ODOT in 2003 after 30 years of employment. He did everything from road maintenance to dispatcher.
His motto for life was “Work hard … play harder!” He lived for hanging out with his friends, which ranged from boating and skiing at Ellis Lake in his early years, riding his Harley, cruising in his Corvette, to sitting in the clubs or his garage enjoying a Crown Royal or two.
Doug is survived by his sister, Sue A. Mangine of Fairview, Pa.; two nephews, Christopher Mangine and Marcus Mangine; and a niece, Nichole Mangine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Rosemary “Rosie” (Ellis) Stephan Jordan; and brother in-law, Ronal Mangine.
Visitation will be held from 2-4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. There will be a military service following visitation conducted by the Carey Honor Guard.
A private burial will take place at a later date at Grove Cemetery in Kenton.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and sent to the funeral home.
