Bill Welsh
Bill Welsh (William Thurman Welsh), of Sun City, Ariz., died peacefully on Aug. 7, 2022.
Bill was born on Jan. 11, 1937, in Schenectady, N.Y., to John S. and Regina G. Welsh. When he was three the family moved to Carey, where he attended Our Lady of Consolation Parish and grade school and then Carey High School. Bill joined the Air Force after high school graduation.
Bill married Sharan “Kim” Kimmel on Sept. 26, 1959, and they had been married almost 63 years. Together they had four sons, John Michael “Mike” (Maria) of Maryland; William Russell “Russ” (Debbie) of Arizona; Gregory of California; and Timothy (Wendy) of Ohio. Grandchildren are Kristen (Lucas) Bass, Jeremy (Jessica) Welsh, Nicole Welsh and Jacob Welsh. Great-grandchildren are Hailey and Garrett Welsh, Ryan and Emory Bass.
His parents are deceased as are his brothers, Warren, John Clarence and David; and his sister, Rose Marie Hawkins. He is survived by siblings, Robert Welsh of Lewisville; Daniel Welsh (Sandy) of New London; and Sister Virginia Welsh of Toledo.
While enlisted in the Air Force he worked on cameras and photography, which was a lifelong hobby of his. Upon his return from the Air Force he was married and moved to Cleveland, where he started his career as a salesman for Bingham, Inc. After 32 years he started his own company: Tooling Accessory Product (TAP) from which he retired. Shortly after his retirement he and his wife, Kim, relocated to Sun City, Ariz.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 3, at 11 a.m. at the Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey. Family will be present to greet guests at 10 a.m.
