James Clark

James Ralph “Jim” Clark, 83, of Carey, passed away at home on Friday, July 7, 2023.
Jim was born on Aug. 18, 1939, at the family farm, in Mt. Blanchard, to the late Ralph and EvaNell (Cole) Clark and graduated from Mt. Blanchard High School in 1957. While in school, he excelled as an athlete, playing football, basketball and baseball. His love for sports continued throughout his life and he continued to play in the “old man leagues” into his late 40’s.
While out to lunch, Jim met Barbara Kessler at Katie’s Kitchen in Vanlue and the rest was history. The two were wed shortly after on June 12, 1982.
Jim was a hard-working man and always providing for his family. He worked for several years at Cooper Tire and The Dow Company, ran the family farm and later retired from Hantech in 2006. Always wanting to spend time with his family, he made sure never to miss his grandkids’ sporting events and enjoyed having everyone over at his house.
In Jim’s free time, he could be found making sure his yard was in perfect order and drinking coffee with his buddies at McDonald’s in Carey. Being a man of faith, Jim attended various churches, most recently Gateway Church in Findlay.
Jim will be missed by his wife, Barb; children, Deneen (Zeke) Corbin, Craig (Karen) Clark, Shawn (Amy) Clark, Amy (Steve) Adams and Jeremy (Cassie) Clark; “a shit-load” of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Roger (Karen) Clark, Wayne (Dianne) Clark, Barb (Doug) VanTilberg and Deb Stofield; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Clark and brother, Don Clark.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 11, from 4-7 p.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. A funeral will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 12, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ed Grable officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Mt. Blanchard.
Donations may be made in Jim’s honor to Gateway Church, 620 N. Main Street, Findlay, OH 45840.
