Berlyn Geary
Berlyn G. Geary, 89, of Tiffin, died at 1:34 a.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023, at home.
He was born on May 25, 1934, in Wyandot County, to Roy and Evelyn (Swerline) Geary. He first married Linda (Kentfield) Geary and they later divorced. He then married Kathleen (Huth) Geary and she died Sept. 11, 1975. He then married Janis (Corfman) Geary and she died Dec. 26, 2004.
Surviving are the following children, Kelly Hoover, Westcliffe, Colo.; Julie (Gary) Lescallett, Melmore; Bonnie Ramirez, Tiffin; Cindy Fleck, Findlay; Karen (Richard) Wise, Tiffin; Todd Geary, rural Sycamore; and Kimberly Hurley, Upper Sandusky. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Berlyn has a sister, Bonnie Long, rural Sycamore, and a brother, Carl (Debbie) Geary, Burlington, Ky.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Shaw; son-in-law, James Hurley; a grandson, Michael Shaw; and a sister, Patty Geary.
Berlyn worked 31 years at General Electric, Tiffin, and farmed for over 50 years. He was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church, Sycamore American Legion Post #250 and Mohawk Historical Society. He was a trustee for Pleasant View Cemetery Association, member of Indian Mill Antique Tractor Association, the Car Coddlers Club, Pioneer Auto Club and Shelman Model A Club and was a member of a local stockholders club.
He was an Army veteran having served his country from 1957-1959 having been stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. He also in 2016 was on the Flag City Honor Flight which traveled to Washington, D.C., with other veterans to visit memorials built in their honor.
For hobbies he loved his antique cars, loved to mow yard, go fishing and every morning go to the local gas station to have coffee with his buddies.
Funeral services for Berlyn will be held on Saturday, July 22, at 1 p.m. at Sycamore United Methodist Church with the Rev. Amy Vittorio officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery where the Sycamore American Legion will conduct a military graveside service. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at the church.
