Ronald Weinandy

Ronald Cyril Weinandy, 69, of Alvada, died on Thursday, Aug 24, 2023.
He was born on Feb. 1, 1954, as a home birth to Mary Lou (Nye) and Luke Weinandy, who both preceded him in death.
Ron was married to M. Jane (Mitten) Feb. 11, 1978, at Our Lady of Consolation Church, Carey. They went on to have four children, Jennifer (Chris) Gerschutz of Alvada, Josh Weinandy of Elyria, Jill (Ryan) Wilson of Gilbert, Ariz., and Sara (Mark) Abel of Woodstock, Ga. Ron had seven grandchildren, Taylor, Hannah and Raymond Gerschutz, Jacob and Ella Wilson, A.J. Abel and preceding his death, Evelyn Abel.
Ron is survived by four sisters, Karen Helms, Sandy Fredritz, Erma Hemminger and Tina Strausbaugh and two brothers, Paul and Leon Weinandy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Earl Weinandy.
Ron enjoyed farming, spending time with his dogs, surveying crops and John Deere tractors. Ron was a lifelong farmer and retired from Reinhart Ditching and Repair. Ron was a graduate of New Riegel High School Class of 1972 and a member of All Saints Catholic Church in New Riegel.
Jane and her family will receive friends and family from 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 28, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, with the Rev. Tim Kummerer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery near Alvada.
